OUR MISSION
Callan's Cause empowers families facing NICU & PICU hospitalizations by providing comprehensive financial assistance and emotional support, ensuring no parent has to navigate their child's critical care journey alone.
OUR OBJECTIVE
To reduce the financial and emotional toll on families with children in intensive care, allowing them to focus on what matters the most: the health of their child.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Callan's Cause was created by people passionate about making a difference in our Ocean State. Our journey started in late 2023 when a couple of beach lovers weren't ready to let go of the summertime vibes; we decided to take on the challenge of jumping in the ocean, once a month, for an entire year. After a few months and some growth in attendance, the season of charity polar plunges was upon us - we wanted to contribute to a cause for our January 2024 plunge. We wanted to raise awareness and funds, but we truly sought to make a difference towards a cause that hit close to home. We decided to conduct our own plunge in an effort to raise money for families that had children in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU); Callan, the son of Director Dan Murray, spent the first 287 days of his life between the NICU and PICU.Â
On January 6, 2024 a new tradition in "Plunging For Preemies" was born. In 2025, we were fortunate enough to double our attendance and donations from year one to year two! It was this plunge that showed us just how many people are impacted by prematurity and the long-lasting effects that it can have. We felt that we could expand our circle to make a further impact, not only to infants in the NICU, but children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), as well. We established our own non-profit, Callan's Cause, so that going forward, we are able to make the largest impact we can in the smallest state.
